![]() ![]() Then in 1999-2000 i think, i’ve bought a pentium 166MHz, 32 EDO ram and a 4M video card and my brother introduced me with a friend of him who worked for a TV station. I’ve started in 1996 with 3D studio R4 for DOS on a friend’s computer, i’ve bought my first computer in 1998(with a rate system) and started to really learn 3D but…after 2 months i’ve send the computer back because my father died and we’ve had serious money problems and i couldn’t pay the comp anymore :)…that’s life Let me tell you something and maybe u’ll understand me: I don’t see what is the problem of seeing how, other softwares are working and if someone can do that, i don’t see what is the problem. rmr files that came along, anyone can get Lightman through the link provided by Leigh. It’s funny how a normal question degenarted in discussions about people’s money and what they should do with theyr own money, but you know?1…it’s human nature and we can do nothing about it, right?! It’d be cool to get familiar with Maya and use it to pick up the slack where Lightwave leaves off.Īaa…Hi guys…wow…what a thread?! (and cyrus lights a cigarette) Me personally, I’d love to have both Maya and Lightwave here on my desk. It’s one thing to want to spend your budget wisely, but I’ve seen quite a few people (not here at CGTalk so much) that feel everything needs to be done in one app. I also feel that these apps shouldn’t be thought of as “the only one to own”. The pics look a lot like something Lightwave would produce, but man you wouldn’t believe how much tweaking and massaging he got to to reach that point. For example, I know a guy who makes Star Trek bridges in True Space. Unfortunately, it’s usually that image that some artist worked a little too hard on that is used to advertise the app. Just because an app is limited, doesn’t mean an artist can’t do something really cool with it. #Renderman for lightwave softwareOne really has to try the software on for size. It’s fun to play with other renderers and learn them. Sorry to go on a rant there, but this is something I really feel strongly about.Īt any rate, I’m rather keen to hear from feedback on LightMan - has anyone here used it extensively? (I’m presuming the person who started this thread hasn’t yet, hehe!) I’m really interested to hear about it. ![]() People like that are heading for trouble - not only a potential financial mistake, but also a LOT of potential frustration and disillusionment. I think it’s crazy the way people look at software galleries and then go and buy the program thinking that they are suddenly magically going to be able to produce the same results simply because they are using the same apps. This is one of the reasons (actually the MAIN reason) why I decided to clamp down so heavily on the “what app should I use?” threads here on CG Talk - it’s for peoples own good that they go and try apps before they make decisions.
