![]() ![]() “Sales of Anno 1800 will be discontinued on Steam after April 16th due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store,” says Valve. Valve has updated Anno 1800’s Steam store page with a little apology for the situation, confirming it was a publisher decision (obviously) to make Anno 1800 an Epic and Uplay exclusive. On their part, Ubisoft has reassured fans that Anno 1800 on Steam will still be patched as per usual, as well featuring online multiplayer between Steam, Uplay, and Epic owners regardless of their storefront. Perhaps there are some regional pricing hijinks in other territories. Epic wants to build up its roster of games of course, although who in their right mind is buying Anno 1800 through the Epic Store, rather than Uplay, we don’t know. ![]() Uplay is seen as the lesser of two evils for a lot of PC gamers, and being available on the Epic Store merely pushes more people to buy Ubisoft games directly through Uplay, thereby giving Ubisoft a 100% cut. Ubisoft has taken the decision after the “successful launch” of The Division 2 on the service last month. Pre-purchases will be honoured through Steam, so it’s exactly the same scenario as Metro Exodus. The city-building and management game is currently available to pre-order on Steam, priced at £50, but will be removed by the time Anno 1800’s release day rolls around. Despite being available for pre-order for months, Ubisoft has announced Anno 1800 will become an Epic Games Store and Uplay exclusive following its April 16th launch. ![]()
